The theme of this year’s Met Gala was an homage to Comme des Garçons’ conceptual fashion designer Rei Kawakubo. Accordingly, all attendees were challenged to pull off an avant-garde look at the red carpet.
Some celebrities managed this task more successfully than others. However, since most of the dresses were a bit over the top, the jewellery was mainly kept relatively quiet – and primarily coalesced around a few looks featuring with either chokers, long dazzling earrings or fingers stacked with statement rings.
Haily Balwin pulled off an amazing look with a custom Swarovski-studded Gigi Burris veil, diamond choker and earrings.
A noteworthy and interesting observation was however that brooches made a comeback this year.
Keri Russell with Matthew Rhys by her side wore a David Webb Heraldic Brooch and pink tourmaline ring.
Even the men went for the brooches this year. Here The Weekend, with girlfriend Selena Gomez (in Tiffany & Co.), wearing a diamond brooch.
BVLGARI was the big winner on the red carpet, grazing a number of stars from Céline Dion, Diane Kruger, Lily Aldridge, Bella Hadid to Elizabeth Chambers.
Some stars still gave the jewellery special attention, Cassie for instance, wore a custom-made diamond ear piece by Indonesian designer Rinaldy Yunardi.
Supermodel Cara Delavigne who recently shaved her head was almost impossible to recognise. Cara had painted her short hair silver and dotted it with tiny crystals, sure to make an impression.
The first weekend of the annual Coachella Music & Arts Festival has come and gone. The event is held in Indio, in the Colorado Desert, California, and marks the unofficial start of music festival season. However, despite Coachella being a music festival, the celebrity-visited event is in many ways just as much a fashion happening as it is a music one. Learn what gems to pack for your coming festival season as we take a look at the best jewellery moments from the weekend.
By first glance at the celebrities’ snaps from the weekend, it seems that the style in Indio, California, has finally parted with its boho fetish. Here model Hailey Baldwin puts a sparkling touch to her casual outfits with huge Swarovski earrings.
Kendall Jenner was like a chameleon on the first days of the festival. From oversized hoops to a cool black choker to a flashy look with a sequined bra top, sleeves and sparkling necklace layering.
Our own Josephine Skriver also rocked a thin, old-school choker neckpiece and injected some low-key coolness to the festive event.
Rihanna mixed a low cut denim look with diamond rings from Gilan.
It seems like there are no rules when it comes to the coming summer’s festival and jewellery choices. Go for big, glitter and bling or go old-school with a 90’s inspired leather choker.
If there is one style of jewellery that is always in fashion it’s hoop earrings. Perhaps because the classic earrings come in many different sizes and are updated and interpreted in new ways each season.
Today we are crushing on these chunky ones from Celine.

J. W. Anderson is one of my favourite designers. On top of my wishlist this season is his Pierce Leather Shoulder bag, but the designer, known for his quiet individualism and a sense of restraint collections also creates stunning jewellery.
J.W.Anderson’s jewellery assortment matches perfectly with the label’s directional ready-to-wear.
The designer’s statement jewellery encapsulates contemporary opulence. These Sphere drop earrings feature two polished spheres joined by a sleek bar.
Take your styling cues from the SS17 runway, and wear them with a print blouse.
Another sleek example, is these statement bangles that will cause attention wherever you go.
J.W.Anderson originally began his fashion career in menswear, when he launched his women’s line the ambition was to bring lean tailoring and intricate printing to a female audience. He is not afraid to experiment with fabric technology and digital imagery which pushes the sartorial envelope. Anderson is not afraid of colours too which is also evident in his jewellery.
Today we are crushing on these gorgeous Chandelier Earrings by Sophie Buhai.
This is were art and design melts together. Dangling from your ears like Chandeliers you are sure to make an impression.
Fashion month is on and as the models stroll down the runways in one european fashion capital after the other, a new mini trend is taking shape on the jewellery scene. What before was faux pas is now hotter than hot!
And what are we talking about? We are talking about how you choose your earrings next season. Forget about the rules of the perfect pair. Mix it up and go for everything asymmetrical – literally. Not just an asymmetrical pair, no we are talking different earrings. Different in shapes, colours, lengths, materials – just go wild, its trendy!
Don’t believe us? Take it from the top notch designers of the moment then. We have proof from the catwalks.
