Fall in love with MaryLou and the

Organic shapes

MaryLou is a small Danish brand that makes jewellery, that is not only a piece of precious gold, but a story created with love. The brand takes pride in creating memories for people. Although her designs never are presented as a complete collection, each piece of jewellery is recognisable with a distinct MaryLou signature style and noticeable organic shapes.

The story about

MaryLou

MaryLou is committed to sustainability, and taking care of our planet and the environment we are all a part of. All the brand's designs are therefore sustainable. The gold used in the production is recycled gold, and the pearls come from ethically cultivated pearl farms.

MaryLou

A sustainable brand

MaryLou uses many untreated Sapphires from Madagascar, which is the only place in the world where the sapphires are found in all the colours of the rainbow, created by our planet. All pearls are thus carefully selected on the basis of sustainable principles, with the greatest respect for the world's oceans. MaryLou likes the idea of giving back to nature every time you have taken something, like a sapphire for example, - because as Marie-Louise says: "It is the nature that gives us these amazing treasures." Therefore, every time you buy a piece of jewellery from MaryLou, a tree is planted.

MaryLou’s jewellery is characterized by being simple yet detailed. It is rigorous, but also whimsical. In short: the designs are completely unique and will surely be just the touch that makes your look special and very personal. Especially the fine Annie Ring is a true customer favourite and bestseller. The Annie ring is intended as a ring for the little finger, but it can easily be used on other fingers as well and you can get it in exactly the size that suits you. The Annie ring is made of 14 carats rose gold. On top of the wide gold rail shines a 2.5mm gemstone, but also here it is possible to choose a different size of gemstone and exactly the colour you want.

"It is the nature that gives us these amazing treasures." Therefore, every time you buy a piece of jewellery from MaryLou, a tree is planted."

About the Designer

Marie-Louise is the designer behind MaryLou jewellery. She designs and makes all the jewellery by hand in her small shop on Gammelkongevej in Copenhagen.

Marie-Louise first got a taste for the jewellery profession when she was doing an internship in a jewellery shop in the 9th grade. The internship subsequently led to a permanent job in the store, and all of a sudden Marie-Louise’s everyday life was surrounded by jewellery. “I’ve had a dream of becoming a jeweller since I was very young. A friend of the family introduced me to the industry and taught me some basic techniques that I later evolved through courses and schooling.”

After school, Marie-Louise moved to London, where she took courses in different jewellery making techniques. When she returned to Denmark, she studied to become a Metalsmith at Copenhagen Technical School, and afterwards took the Basic Course as a Goldsmith at Guldsmedehøjskolen. It was during her studies at Grundforløbet that Marie-Louise started up her own label - MaryLou Jewellery.

Today, Marie-Louise creates her small works of art at her work table in her boutique in central Copenhagen. Behind the store's large windows, she unfolds her adventurous and colourful universe, where whimsical details play up against colourful gemstones and beautiful pearls. Marie-Louise loves colours, as well as mixing and matching her jewellery, which creates connecting dots as a colourful thread between her designs. The colourful jewellery designer works every day to create jewellery that you will love for a long time. "The greatest joy of my work is being allowed to create memories and hopefully jewellery that can be passed on to next generations." tells Marie-Louise.

MaryLou

Why we love it

MaryLou exclusively works with precious metals, and the vast majority of the designs are made in recycled 14 carat and 18 carat solid gold. However, if you want a special design in silver it is also possible to custom make this. You can also choose the stones you love for your jewellery and in that way participate in creating a completely personal and unique design for yourself. Marie-Louise loves to mix the gemstones in several colours. Her own favourites are the untreated sapphires from Madagascar which are repeated in several of the brand's designs. MaryLou works closely with the supplier, which ensures proper working conditions and handling of the stones in all processes.

We love MaryLou's great dedication to sustainability and unique approach to jewellery production, and are proud to welcome you inside MaryLou's whimsical universe here at The Jewellery Room.
